The haunted mansion story is such a huge part of our written and cinematic culture, that it really should have its own genre. It’s much easier for me to write my tale than for most authors, as the great house really exists. I could show you the crypt and the graveyard, even the strange bone filled grotto. There is a glade, though I might have misremembered the size of the standing stones. It has been a very long time since I was there and of course I had to change the name.
But I’m rambling and it’s for you, my readers, to decide how much of this story is real and how much is the product of my poor memory and state of mind. Don’t pity any of them or mourn for them….. apart perhaps for poor Agnes. She just wanted her own child you see, a small thing to ask for…………………….
