Told in 11,274 words.
Just about the hardest thing to get out of my head and onto the page. I was determined to use a style and structure fitting to the period, which was hard work.
Nikola Tesla and his laboratory were real, as was the fire in 1895. As for poor Peter Kaplan and the mysterious Jules Strauss….. I’ll leave you to decide if they ever really existed.
Above all I’ve tried to be kind to Tesla, though his sexuality and ideas about ‘modern women,’ couldn’t be ignored. Take out his rather eccentric views on some matters and you cut a lot out of the man.
Tesla might have been a flawed genius, but he was definitely a genius.
